Kent Monkman is a visual artist and filmmaker whose paintings and films have
been presented nationally and internationally. Originally from Winnipeg, he is of Cree
ancestry and a member of Fisher River First Nation in Manitoba. His paintings have been shown in numerous galleries across North America, and his installations have been exhibited at the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Hamilton. He has designed sets and costumes for theatre and dance, and has illustrated numerous books including a children’s book by Thomas King, A Coyote Columbus Story. His award winning film/ videography includes, A Nation is Coming and Blood River.
