Brian Miller was born in
Greece, New York in 1969.
He received a BFA from Purchase College, State University of New York
and an MFA from the Yale School of Art. Currently he lives in the White
Mountains of New Hampshire and teaches Photography at Dartmouth
College. His work has been widely exhibited in the US and Canada,
published in numerous periodicals.
His photography
is in the documentary tradition without the pretense of
objectivity.
The imagery is based on an event that happened in the fall of 2001 a
story, which is told and then re-told. Re-telling becomes a way of
remembering and a way of understanding events, which were inexplicable
to begin with. The reality is this: one night he picked up a woman
hitch hiking. She then stayed with him for three and a half weeks. He
then returned her to the same place he found her. The rest is the
story.
