Edward Obara

So raise the Morning Star and raise it high

Tell the truth about the Genocide

Hopefully the World will understand

West Papua is a Melanesian land

Declarations of Human Rights

They’re paper tigers, they ain’t got no bite

Unless adopted in domestic policy

Not worth a shred of human dignity

So raise the Morning Star and raise it high

Tell the truth about the Genocide

Hopefully the World will understand

West Papua is a Melanesian land

Got a message for our northern neighbours there

West Papua is a Melanesian land

You invaded in Nineteen-Sixty Nine

For the Land, the Gold, the Minerals & the Freeport Mine.

Greed, Corruption in your Politics

Murder, Torture is your main tactic

To repress the voice of Freedoms reign

In a land that don’t belong to them.

So raise the Morning Star and raise it high

Tell the truth about the Genocide

Hopefully the World will understand

West Papua is a Melanesian land

Hopefully the World will understand

West Papua is a Melanesian land

Hopefully the World will understand

West Papua is a Melanesian land

Hopefully the World will understand

West Papua is a Melanesian land

Like PNG, Solomons, Vanuatu & Fiji

and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

bio:

Edward Obara is the lead singer for BLACK CAN CLAN, a seven and a half piece band based in Darwin. Their music is a cross cultural amalgam of Folk, Blues, Roots, Reggae, Soul and Funk.

Formed in November 2011 by Lead Singer Eddie Obara to accommodate the upcoming release of the album 'Delusions of Grandeur – Limited Edition – 2011' which was written, recorded and mastered by himself, with the help of a few friends.

Their music is described by Eddie as “easy listening with an edge” and their genre as “Troppolitical – because we're all a little bit Troppo and the music is just a little bit political”.

The band consists of Eddie Obara (Vox), David Wise (Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Nektar Xanthis (Rhythm/Lead Guitar), Steve-o Lees (Bass), Angus Lachlan Robinson (Accordian), Buff Coehn (Percussion) and Chris Ganambarr (Drums).
