The change of my culture
The artwork titled 'The change of my culture' was produced as a response to my concerns about the demise of my cultural heritage. For this artwork I focused on the theme of blurred boundaries; the transformation of my culture and how it seems to be fading away due to our integration into our adopted country. The images represent my culture and that of Australia. I used the Australian flag and photographs of Hmong decoration to create a transferred image which was developed using photoshop. The central theme of my artwork is based upon how Hmong culture is changing from its traditional roots. For example: traditional beliefs and language dont apply to our generation as we integrate into the Australian way of life. The language and rules of my culture are slowing changing or fading with the English language slowly taking over.
