Monica Kirk
bio:
Monica Kirk is a young Indigenous tattoo artist who also specializes in Indigenous art, clothing and accessories.
Originally from Goondiwindi in QLD's South West (a small town just off the NSW & QLD State Border) the Aboriginal land and tribe of this region belongs to the Kamilaroi people. Having spent most of her childhood years between her place of birth, Boggabilla & Toomelah she had become no stranger to art and its offerings. It could even be said that her talent may be somewhat genetic, as her mother and uncles all possess these artistic bloodlines, most notably Indigenous artist Colin Wightman.
As a professional artist now residing in Toowoomba - also in QLD's South West and Darling Downs, but with a much, much greater population, she has built an exceptional reputation as not only a great tattoo artist but also a positive role model and mentor for other artists. She has been in the industry for almost 8 years and she is currently looking into the prospect of establishing her own business and line of Indigenous and non-Indigenous clothing. Another one of her interests is photography.
