On a clear winter Sunday morning in Brisbane, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and general public of all ages gathered to walk from Kurilpa Point, South Brisbane to King George Square.
Coordinated and supported by Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation, Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy and Development (Department of Communities) and Brisbane City Council, an impressive gathering of the biggest mob of people strided together across the William Jolly Bridge and through the centre of the Brisbane CBD to King George Square.
The photograph selected was taken during a short break outside the Brisbane Police Headquarters and Roma Street, for the Jagera Jarjum dancers to pay respect to the ancestors and to show a physical and visual impact about the continued proud existence of Aboriginal dance and culture in the urban environment |
