Namorrodoh beings are devil-like men who inhabited Arnhem Land during the Dreamtime. They are still present at night in the bush. The bush string around his upper arms and knees signifies that he is a magic man. In one manifestation, Namorrodoh takes the form of a shooting star at night. In this guise, he looks for the souls of people which he can 'steal'. Floating helplessly are depicted the lost souls of people which Namorrodoh has taken. Captured, their souls are destined never return to their ancestral country.
