S.F. Tusa

Born in 1977, S. F. Tusa is a filmmaker of Torres Strait Island and Samoan descent. He was raised in the towns of Cairns, Queensland, and Christchurch, Aotearoa (New Zealand).S. F. Tusa realised at an early age he wanted to be a filmmaker, always a passionate artist, musician and true believer in film being an art form. He began working in the camera and sound departments on various productions and as a grip assistant on the set of Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks’ production, The Pacific, always keenly observing the filmmaking process, in particular the work of the director.
S. F. Tusa has completed numerous AFTRS writing and director courses and workshops, under the supervision of mentors Wayne Blair and Rima Tamou. After making his directing debut with NIA'S MELANCHOLY, he started developing two short films with funding bodies Screen Australia and PFTC as Writer/ Director. S.F. Tusa also has several long form projects in development. S. F. Tusa has lived in Mossman, North Queensland, for the last ten years with his beautiful Yalanji wife and their four sons.
