Artist Statement  |
| The Heart of the Journey is just as the title suggests: a journey of our hearts. A journey which took indigenous woman Lucy Dann from Broome Western Australia to Hong Kong, Tokyo and Taiji, a small fishing village in south west Japan in search of her Japanese father. It is a personal account of Lucy's search for her identity as well as a social document that reveals indigenous multiculturalism and Broome's pearling history.
This true story is told with sounds from the journey with over 350 still photographs and music written by Lucy's relatives and friends. |
