“The voluminous numbers of recycled cans embodied in the work poignantly references the voracious cycles of production, consumption and disposal of such a ubiquitous item.”
Judith Brough (Curator of Flash Trash 2006)
“The fabricating process of making ‘Repetitive Recycling’ requires me to engage in laborious repetitive action. My major work, Folded Books also reflects this element of repetitive process. This is so repetitive that I can honestly say that it is a ‘boring process.’ But it is through the boring process that reveals the aesthetic quality of the forms. By cutting and outwardly folding the cans, it generates a wave of colour, pattern, rhythm, and reflection. By transforming discarded aluminum cans through the ‘boring repetitive process,’ this object exhibits a transformational radiating shape. The transformational aspects of this work, not only shows the aesthetic quality but it also provides a commentary on environmental issues.”
