Pauls Ancestral history and family are in and around the Cairns region, his grandmother Betty Wonga from Babinda is still alive today to tell the traditional story that is now a legend to the area. Pauls Art is the traditional Yidinji Art from the North Queensland region. Yidinji-means Scorpion.

The Yidinji young warriors were given a blank Shield before they were initiated. After initiation they had to paint their totems - which is the scorpion sting. Totems are very spiritual and significant - they belong to the land, the Dreamtime stories that are associated with the tribal area.
